How to replace an Amano MJR 7000 and MJR 8000 keypad
We can do it for you, or you can do it yourself:

Tools needed:
Small philips head screwdriver, large flat blade screwdriver,
Clean shop rag, cleaning alcohol (from the hardware store) and 1 shop rag.
Sharpie or magic marker

Take the standard precautions:  Unplug the clock, don't smoke as you work with alcohol, use common sense knowing that alcohol can damage plastic surfaces, even eyeglasses.

Steps:

  • Unplug the clock. Remove the case (using the Amano 700 key)
  • Remove the white locking knob underneath the keypad plate on the right side, if it is still there.  Discard it.
  • Trace the outline of the keypad using your Sharpie or magic marker.
  • Remove the philips screw on the left of the keypad
  • Using the flat screwdriver, peel off the old keypad. This will take some muscle.

  • Disconnect the ribbon cable, remember how it came off.
  • Clean the metal mounting board, but don't clean off your keypad outline.
  • Remove the protective coating from the back of the keypad.
  • Slide the ribbon cable back though the slot.

  • Align and stick the new keypad in the correct position, install the phillips screw.
  • Connect the connector (this may take small or slim hands).
  • Plug the clock back in.  Press CL.  If you see errors, check the ribbon cable connection.

That's all!  See images on the next page.
